You just can’t focus on regret. It’ll eat you alive if you do. “I’m hoping that in time / I’ll settle all the different things / I’ve done somewhere down the line,” remarks singer Olly Corpe. Fronting indie-pop band The King’s Parade, Corpe reigns in his tendency to spiral out of control, mentally hurtling into unimaginable darkness and remorse. With “How Long?,” he wonders when, if ever, he’ll be liberated from his past. The accompanying lockdown-shot visual, recorded at Snap! Studios, follows Corpe in his many cycles, the camera spinning around the room. His loops are our loops, particularly in the age of a global COVID-19; we’ve all probably literally walked our rooms in a similar fashion. It’s just how this new normal goes.
“How Long?” samples the band’s forthcoming debut long-player.
