Taste Test: The Murphs stuck with the ‘Homebound Delirium Blues’
The roots-rock band barrel ahead as they consider the cross they bear to make music.

Any working musician’s life is born out of great passion for the music. The open highway, riddled with loose gravel and a sun-kissed breeze, sweeps them away as clouds do perched upon the horizon. There is as much beauty in the unknown as there is a crushing, two-ton bar bell. Americana roots-rock band The Murphs consider their own dream-chasing on a song called “Homebound Delirium Blues,” a bristling, head-bobbin’ traveling tune. “I’ve been wasting all my money / I’ve been wasting all my days / It’s just one more year of running second place” rings out the opening line. They knew all too well the sacrifices they must make, it’s quite the cross to bear, but they do it for redemption, the thrill, the energy that only emanates from the crowd at their live shows. “I guess I’ll take the road the long way…”
“Homebound Delirium Blues” opens the band’s self-titled debut LP, out everywhere now.
