Seasons fade as quickly as they blossom. It’s one of many things in this life far beyond our grasp. Folk-rock band The Pierce Project lose themselves in the moment, particularly as last summer now lies dormant and distant and cold. With “Some Things Remain,” they tug on the heartstrings to provoke those memories and allow the rush of emotion to wash over them, crisp and soothing. It’s the small things, like fireworks bursting in air, that linger with you most and make life truly worth living. “Drifting in a memory / Swimming in the water,” they sing in unison. Their invitation is irresistible, and you shall float way on your own memories, too.
“Some Things Remain” bookends the band’s album, The Last Days of Summer, out everywhere now.
