We need all the hope we can get these days. Alex Arndt, who goes by The Sonic Universe, serves up a generous helping with his new song. “Shine” shoots through a throwback pop-rock filter, but it’s its timely textures, from evocative lyrics to flashing shimmers, that elevate it to the present. “Let your heart be free,” his silky tenor glides along lush strings. Drums soon erupt around him, but it is his unwavering tone which leads the production into the stratosphere. He burns red hot with conviction, and it calms your nerves before you even realize it.
“Shine” serves as the lead single to a forthcoming EP.
