When the fire takes hold, there’s rarely an escape route through the engulfing flames that can do nothing but consume you whole. But Jaclyn Lovey, most known for her work on NBC’s The Voice, rediscovers her wings at the very last second, before the crackling knives deflate her completely, and courageously pushes onward through the heat and snowdrift of grey ash. Alongside producer Spencer Riley (aka The TVC onstage), Lovey’s voice instills within her strength to literally walk “Through the Fire,” dragging her pain across the threshold into a new beginning. “I know now that I will not back down,” Lovey grits her teeth and locks her jaw. Her fearsome determination is further heightened thanks to Riley’s appropriately triumphant production, choices that underscore the torrential misery leading into the light of salvation.

“Through the Fire” is lifted from Riley’s new EP, Motel Lady Luck, out now.
