Imagine the tug-o-war over control in a relationship as Frankenstein. The mad scientist has built a vision of what it should be, but as the story goes, only destruction results. Moody pop duo TOLEDO reapply this monstrous tale as a metaphor for their own struggles out of relationships, cobbled together emotions that spring out of deep ache. “Holding my hands to string me up /Like a marionette / I feel your hands on my lungs squeezing,” the words slip from their lungs. As litling as the melody runs, beneath their tangled voices, there oozes a peculiar soundscape of laboratory bangs and pops.
