Welcome to Taste Test, a song/video review series of SubmitHub-only gemstones.

Our perception of time seems to accelerate as we grow older. The sun rises and sets the same, forever locked in a tango with the moon, but in collecting memories, our conscious mind filters and process images and moments in increasingly different ways. More simply, life is constantly moving, so we better cherish it or it’ll slip through our fingertips. Waxing both nostalgic and existential, Swedish synth-pop duo UNDRESSD (of vocalist Elina and producer Erik) give Alphaville’s 1984 classic hit “Forever Young” a contemporary makeover. “Let us die young or let us live forever / We don’t have the power but we never say never,” sings Elina, a silvery heaviness weighing down her body. In stripping away the starry nature of the original, while keep it untethered to land, rather ironically, the up and coming pair inject the pop standard with a more youthful resolve to carpe diem the shit out of this life. And we’re so onboard.
