Simplicity gives an artist a chance to show their charisma and raw talent. Armed with a stunning voice and a piano, Vishruti shows the world how it’s done. “Changing Cities, Reprise” is a beautiful journey of self discovery after leaving a place that was once familiar. The piano is wonderfully expressive, rising and falling like an emotional tide. “Changing Cities, Reprise” is adorned with brief and subtle synth hints, giving the song a pensive and otherworldly tone. But the star of the show is Vishruti herself. Her voice is enrapturing, catching your mind’s eye with a sheer force of will. Vishruti straddles the fine line between delicate and powerful. “I keep changing the cities/its a bit of a climb/and I say alright instead of why can’t you be mine?” she hums in a low tone. Listeners may be surprised to know that Vishruti had a battle to find her voice with this song after feeling nervous to put her vocals out there. I am so glad that she won. The world needs to hear her voice and the lyrics it brings.
