The singer-songwriter wonders why he’s so alone.

“Letting go comes easy when you’re busy letting down,” Zach Cornell sings over bristling guitar and lonesome pedal steel. In “Is Anyone Left,” the singer-songwriter laments being alone, wandering the earth left only to his devices and a cold seat beside him. “Is anyone left to tie me down / Keep me from digging this heart down in the ground,” he unfurls his heartstrings. “Is anyone there to listen to me / Keep me from running from a little bit of peace.” He’s drowning in his sorrow, and every droplet oozes onto the record. From the finger-pickin’ production to a bleeding, heart-torn vocal, “Is Anyone Left” is a knock-you-flat sort of tune.
