Taste Test: Zayde Wølf is ‘Still Fighting for It’
The pop-rock performer gives it his all on one of his most explosive entries yet.

For every song that spills from a songwriter’s fingertips, there are easily a half dozen that never want to break free. You can never predict what’ll happen; you just buckle up and enjoy what comes next. An alarming, volatile pop-rock force, Dustin Burnett (known professionally as Zayde Wølf) came under an almost unbearable creative freeze with his new song “Still Fighting for It,” which ironically existed in 15 various iterations and took nine months to finish. “I ain’t even trying to break a sweat now / ‘Cause I got another dragon to slay,” he sings. He cups his vocals across distinctively percussive production, switching up between rock and hip-hop, and quite literally gives it his damndest. “Sometimes, it feels like I’m living a dream,” he admits of the constant push and pull to write songs. But here he stands victorious.
