Welcome to Taste Test, a song/video review series of SubmitHub-only gemstones

How many times can we really praise Aaron Taos?! Apparently, that number is boundless. He’s one of 2019’s greatest discoveries – and coming on the heels of his “Closure” video (here), he caps off his year with another wavy synth-stitched banger. “Saboteur,” and its deliciously hazy, sun-bathed visual, examines the constant cycle of comparisons, exacerbated through social media, fleeting institutional gratification, and the jealousy which jellos the soul. “I’ve fallen deeper / What I want, I’m not really sure,” he sings – planted in a crowd, stoic and emotionless. The music video, directed by Taylor Florio, plays on the depleting allure of Hollywood, too, referencing the Walk of Fame and the new Jumanji sequel. As we all fall into various Black Mirror episodes, we can at least distract ourselves with Taos’ growing catalog of should-be hits.
