Taste Test: Abc Dialect uncover utter ‘Magic’
The chill-pop duo celebrate love of pets with their grainy new music video.

Love blooms from the most unlikely (or perhaps likely) of places. Even pet owners exhibit the rush of adoration with their furry, feathered or scaly companions. Just ask Barcelona chill-pop duo Abc Dialect, who comb frosty synths for their new cut that explores such a notion. “Magic,” paired with an endearingly grainy visual, follows the narrator as he goes to a bird shop to pick up a new friend. The electricity is instantaneous, and he soon traipses through the city, a grocery store and the park with his lemon-colored parakeet. The expanse of greenery falls away, as he spins and loses himself in the moment. “I know this is magic / This is love” slips over the funk-pop groove, just hot enough to hit your eardrums. You may or may not want to run to your nearest pet store after this (just a fair warning!).
“Magic” samples the duo’s new EP, Real Life, out tomorrow (June 13).
