The world collectively mourned Tom Petty’s death. A soul, one which influenced so many of our lives, whether you’re a musician or not, passing from light to darkness is never easy to swallow. In the aftermath, Americana singer-songwriter Andrew Weiss, as frontman of Andrew Weiss and Friends, buried himself in Petty’s extensive catalog, and the songwriting drove him to write a slew of songs of his own. One of those included “All the News Fit to Print,” a toe-tapping rumbler that really gets the blood moving. “It’s nice to know that I’m not alone,” he admits in the opening stanza, “in thinking that the world is moving much too slow / Make a believer out of me / Make me a believer, and then set me free / Just because it happened / Don’t mean it’s true.” His voice shoves the lyrics right along a rock-fused track, and there is both sadness and hope chugging underneath him.
“All the News Fit to Print” samples a new album called The Golden Age of Love & Chemistry, out everywhere later this year.
