Taste Test: Andreww sends up warning about ‘Medusa’
The pop newcomer goes heavy on metaphor with a new song.

There’s always that former lover which, upon a bit of distance and reflection, was nothing but a bloodsucker. Pop newcomer Andreww (formerly a fashion model) mines that sensibility with his gurgling, somehow musically unsettling, second-ever single “Medusa,” comparing an ex to Greek mythology. “Why do you only call me when you’re high these days,” he sings. Frustration oozes out of his vocal cords and drags you right into his hypnotic, dark underworld. “I’ve got nothing left to choose / It’s not like me to be the one to lose / Turning diamonds, diamonds, into gold,” he continues unthreading elevated, metaphorical songwriting.
