Taste Test: Arson Daily can’t see any of the ‘Signs’
The indie-rock band fall into a deep sugar slumber of infatuation.
Welcome to Taste Test, a song/video review series of SubmitHub-only gemstones
Infatuation is like sugar – it tastes good, but upon crossing a certain threshold, it’s 100 percent dangerous. Indie-rock band Arson Daily firmly thrash around in the sweet bite, coating their bodies in the feelings of romance that aren’t exactly real. “Signs” hits hard and nearly knocks you senseless, and Zach Dunham’s voice skips across heavy bass and stabbing percussion. “Your photo’s in my locket / You’re the smoothest talker / So slick with the style and so easy to talk to / I like the way you move, you talk, your lake blue eyes,” he subdues himself, unwittingly, into a comatose state. It’s silky and dream-like, but by the final frame, reality slams back into his head. “I’m blind to all the signs / I’m going down,” he admits.
“Signs” is the second single from the band’s forthcoming debut LP, Late Reflections, expected in 2020.
