Taste Test: Big Little Lions tuck away from January’s bitter cold with ‘Never Mind the Weather’
The folk-pop duo hibernate until winter breaks.

Big Little Lions envelope you in warmth — like a purring baby Simba in the opening scene of “The Lion King.” Wrestle away you might, but their fleecy melodies and shimmering musical coatings will drawn you back in nonetheless. Such is the case with “Never Mind the Weather,” a plaintive tune about the dead of winter and how hunkering down may be the only thing you can do. “Let it all come down / We’re tucked away,” Paul Otten and Helen Austin sing in unison. “We’re not afraid, no / We just say ‘well, never mind the weather.'” Winds whip, and bitter cold clings to the shutters — but no matter, Big Little Lions will hibernate and reemerge when the time is right.
