We all have those fleeting moments of time that become immortalized on our bones. The years might flutter by, but every once in a while, like a daydream, our minds are flooded with the past and the many yearnings it brought. Italian power-pop singer and songwriter Chiara Oldano whisks the present back in time for a rooftop rendezvous with the blistered torch song called “Love on the Roof.” As her voice rolls in bellowing increments as thunder in a rainstorm, Oldano sternly tugs the listener into a rose-tinted groove that slathers the senses with the exact cheek-flushed thrill of romance. “There was a bigger power that they couldn’t see,” she coos, ripples dancing across the piano keys. It’s earth-splitting in its bold theatrics, often feeling very ’60s girl group, yet undeniably rich on a personal level.

“Love on the Roof” is the latest in a string of singles, including “Nothing to Hide.”
