Sticky-sweet love songs are a dime a dozen. Ironically inspired by Valentine’s Day, Scottish five-piece Dancing on Tables‘ new effervescent jam “Tell Me” flips the script, swapping a sappy Hallmark message for the burning out of a relationship. “So, next time you call me / And you’re drunk and lonely / Don’t say that you want me…” yearns frontman Robbie McSkimming. He wears his heart on his sleeve, freely pouring out his confessions onto paper, and in his desperation, the instruments, courtesy of bandmates Callum Thomas (guitar), Hamish Finlayson (guitar), Gregor Stobie (bass) and Reece Dobbin (drums), ring with alarming, emotional intensity.
