We have one life, and it’s our responsibility to shape and mold into something beautiful and meaningful – if we want to. “At the end of your life, there’ll be nothing but tracks,” singer-songwriter Daniel Pearson extends with his new song. “Down the Tracks” is a deceptively chipper tune, pinned together with pluck and optimism, carrying with it a hefty amount of lyrical cargo. “In our lives we’re under so much pressure from work, social media, advertising, politics,” he said of the song, which vows to steal away with a lover. Pearson’s songbook along is a hefty one, and in these perilous times, we need such a slice of hope to get us through. “Empty shoes left by the door / New house keys on the kitchen floor,” he brushes with simple, familiar imagery that stretches across all of our lives, fashioning a much grander and pointed message.
