Welcome to Freshly Squeezed, a weekly new music playlist: spanning country, pop, EDM and urban, mainstream and other.
Helen Austin and Paul Otten weave the kind of golden folk-pop that is both magical and heavy. Together as Big Little Lions, the pair of musicians sample their new album with a horn-baked new song called “I Can Have It All.” Mixing the grandeur of larger, more sweeping notions with their signature roots, feeling familiar yet fresh, the new cut signals an even more ambitious era for pop’s best kept secret. “Some day, maybe, I’ll get mine, too,” they sing, dancing and twisting in unison. It’s a melancholic statement piece that turns and shimmers in the sunlight.
Groovy for days, Americana duo Fox & Bones issue a brawny giddy-up called “Running Free,” blessed and sun-kissed. “We’ve been through the darkest of our caverns,” they dig their teeth into personal reflections and the inevitable transformation. Their words toss and tumble across the rich, vibrant expanses of countryside, as tumbleweeds forever untethered from the past or the traumas etched into their bone marrow. Yet they allow such sorrow to fuel a new lease on life; their voices are neatly packed together, tied together with a lush, funkadelic arrangement. The world is truly their oyster now.
The new lineup includes other favorites from Jonathan Something, Ava Max, Sawyer Fredericks, Chasing Abbey, Windy Isle, LSDREAM, Lowen, Mike & the Moon Pies, Billy Strings, Edan Archer and many more!
