Freshly Squeezed, Vol. 108: Courtney Marie Andrews, Rue Snider, Jocelyn Alice & more
Enjoy new songs from Lisa Bell, Erin Enderlin, Kelsy Karter, Ava Max, Grace Potter and more!
Welcome to Freshly Squeezed, a weekly new music playlist: spanning country, pop, EDM and urban, mainstream and other.
Since Linda Ronstadt can no longer sing, we at least have the glory that is Courtney Marie Andrews. Sure, no one is Linda Ronstadt, but CMA comes pretty damn close. Ahead of Tom Waits’ 70th birthday in December, a slew of women, including Andrews, are lending their God-given gifts to a tribute set called Come On Up to the House: Women Sing Waits. With “Downtown Street,” she flips the plaintive quality of the gravel-soaked original into a scorching confessional of beauty. Is there really anything she can’t handle? Jury says, “No, ma’am!”
Brooklyn glam-rockstar Rue Snider schmoozes the eardrums with a cover of Phoebe Bridgers’ “Chelsea,” gassing up the delicate folk song into an absolute bonfire. And that’s just Snider’s way; his work, especially last summer’s still criminally-overlooked City Living LP, crackles with true daring and heart. He’s just one performance away from totally blowing the roof off the joint. We’re perched and waiting.
The new lineup also includes Lisa Bell, Declan McKenna, Jocelyn Alice, Ava Max, Allison Moorer, Kelsy Karter, Grace Potter, Erin Enderlin, Rebekah Hawker, Callie McCullough and many others.
In all, we’ve got 30 new tracks to power your weekend ahead. Get to listening!
Each playlist will be refreshed every Friday morning/afternoon. We reserve the right to update anytime during the week, so make sure you bookmark this page.
