Freshly Squeezed, Vol. 122: The Streamline Modernes, LOVECRAFT, BHuman & more
Welcome to Freshly Squeezed, a weekly new music playlist: spanning country, pop, EDM and urban, mainstream and other.
Well, 2019 was… something. It’s hard to believe another 12 months have come and gone. While I’m certainly more than ready to leave most of the year behind, I am very anxious and excited for what a new year has in store. 2020, let’s go! I’m sure most of you, dear readers, whose undying support the past 2.5 years is still mind-blowing, are readying for Christmas, so in the spirit of getting drunk on eggnog, perhaps stealing a kiss beneath some mistletoe, or simply trying to get through the holiday with dysfunctional family, I have compiled a strictly holiday-themed playlist. It’s primarily new releases, so buckle up!
Things kick off with an unlikely entry – a song called “Up in the Frat House,” as featured in a pivotal scene from the new Black Christmas remake. TRIGGER WARNING on the song, as it confronts sexual assault and campus rape culture. I’ll spare you my long-winded thoughts on the “fiercely feminist” slasher here – but if you are curious about the film (one of my absolute favorites of the year), written by April Wolfe, alongside co-writer and director Sophia Takal, head this way.
Anyway, the final – yes final – new music weekly playlist of 2019 features Christmas songs from LOVECRAFT, Nadia Vaeh, BHuman, Mercy Bell, Taylor Swift, Megan O’Neill, Sofia Talvik, Røyls, Saw Black, Nina Nesbitt, Matt LeGrand, Charming Disaster and many others!
In all, we’ve got 20 new tracks to power you through Christmas. Get to listening!
Each playlist will be refreshed every Friday morning/afternoon. We reserve the right to update anytime during the week, so make sure you bookmark this page.
