Freshly Squeezed, Vol. 131: Carter James, Sylvia Rose Novak, Rayvon Owen & more
Enjoy new songs from Sarah Peacock, BANNERS, Gavin Haley, David Myre, SUMif, Sam Hunt, and more!
Welcome to Freshly Squeezed, a weekly new music playlist: spanning country, pop, EDM and urban, mainstream and other.
We’ve got nothing but time these days. But pop upstart Carter James still cherishes it all. With his new song “Time,” he calls out those in his life that, quite simply, who have wasted his life. “Every second is a struggle to survive,” he sings, his words eerily relevant to the global pandemic. “If you care about me, be on time.” The latest entry is gooey, gurgling with dark synths, and James’ vocal balances between pointed iciness and sweet airiness. If you care about (music), listen to this song.
Following a bit of delay, Sylvia Rose Novak‘s “Waiting on October” finally arrives when we need it most. “I can see your shadow swaying in a hazy midnight plane / I say your name / I saw your name,” she calls between layers of steel. It’s a post-apocalyptic ditty that, once again, feels like it’s cutting deep to our current never-ending nightmare.
The comeback playlist ⏤ yeah, it’s been like three weeks ⏤ also features SUMif, Sam Hunt, Ashley McBryde, Rayvon Owen, Michelle Brooke, Ellen Krauss, Gavin Haley, Orville Peck, David Myhre, and BANNERS, among many others.
In all, we’ve got 30 new tracks to soothe your mind during these terrible pandemic times. Insert heart emoji.
Each playlist will be refreshed every Friday morning/afternoon. We reserve the right to update anytime during the week, so make sure you bookmark this page.
