Freshly Squeezed, Vol. 132: Con Murphy, Lennon Stella, Marlene Oak & more

Welcome to Freshly Squeezed, a weekly new music playlist: spanning country, pop, EDM and urban, mainstream and other.

Musician Con Murphy has a way of sculpting out your human form and replenishing your bones. His new song “Condemned the Lyricist,” featuring haunting work from Irish cellist Vyvienne Long, is a cinematic ocean that totally immerses you in Murphy’s dissection of what it means to be an artist. In whatever form that might take, from novelists to musicians to sculptors, art is a conduit through which we rediscover meaning, life, ourselves, and perhaps free from mental bonds. “My heart has not got time,” he weeps into the stringwork. It’s stunning, really.

Lennon Stella is blossoming into quite the pop star. A new song called “Fear of Being Alone,” off her forthcoming debut LP Three. Two. One, smolders to a crisp before totally smacking into the senses. It thumps with explosive percussion, quaking beneath her silky soprano, and coming off “Kissing Other People” and “Jealous,” she could upend pop music yet!

The new playlist includes entries from Marlene Oak, Van Darien, Nathan Kalish, Becca Mancari, Heartmouth, Michelle Brooke, Maddie & Tae, Secret Emchy Society, GIRL SKIN, and many more!

In all, we’ve got 30 new tracks to soothe your mind during these terrible pandemic times. Insert heart emoji.

Each playlist will be refreshed every Friday morning/afternoon. We reserve the right to update anytime during the week, so make sure you bookmark this page.
