Freshly Squeezed, Vol. 137: Pete Gardiner, Blake Rose, Fab the Duo & More
Enjoy new songs from Ian Abel, Sam Setton, Kelleigh Bannen, Jake Miller, and many more!
Welcome to Freshly Squeezed, a weekly new music playlist: spanning country, pop, EDM and urban, mainstream and other.
Pete Gardiner‘s “Pick Your Side” is a body burner extreme. There’s something unnerving about the melody, around which he tangles his vocal chords, as a serpent does to its prey. He’s relentless, unapologetic, and terribly brash. “Well, I’m bored when you write home / Bored when you call / Bored of leaving Europe / I’m bored of alcohol,” he hisses, side-winding in the dirt of a tilt-a-whirl production style. Coming off “Bourbon and the Truth,” Gardiner is on a hot streak.
Thorny and smoldering, Blake Rose‘s timbre pounds the skin. With “Rest of Us,” he stands his ground amidst a flurry of detractors hellbent on crushing his dreams, as they spew garbled nonsense to distract him from the glory awaiting ahead. “They always said nobody makes it out of this town, you see / But who I am ain’t a picture of who I could be,” he unwraps under a blanket of piano. Soon, his gaze turns heavenward, and he lets their words fail and fade away. He’s exactly where he’s meant to be.
The new playlist also includes Fab the Duo, Ian Abel, Sam Setton, Caroline Romano, Kelleigh Bannen, Blake English, Jason Isbell & the 400 Unit, The Frisbys, Gavin Haley, Bloods, and countless more.
In all, we’ve got 30 new tracks to soothe your mind during these terrible pandemic times. Insert heart emoji.
Each playlist will be refreshed every Friday morning/afternoon. We reserve the right to update anytime during the week, so make sure you bookmark this page.
