Freshly Squeezed, Vol. 139: Mickey Guyton, Big Little Lions, Charley Crockett & more
Enjoy new songs from The Aces, Kane Brown, Maggie Rose, Sean McVerry, Me Nd Adam, and many more!
Welcome to Freshly Squeezed, a weekly new music playlist: spanning country, pop, EDM and urban, mainstream and other.
Fellow white people, we’ve gotta do better. And we’ve gotta listen, do our research, and, most importantly, do something. Please don’t let your outrage this week be performative; let it mark the beginning of a revolution. Anyway, I digress. Country singer-songwriter Mickey Guyton has something to say, and she does so with her excellent new single “Black Like Me.” I’ll leave you with this apt, incisive, and emotional line: “If you think we live in the land of the free, you should try to be black like me.”
Listen. Stand up. Don’t stop.
Blog favorites, folk-pop duo Big Little Lions impress upon the listener they’ll soon “Rise” again with their latest entry. It sends a warm, intoxicating sensation into the bones ⏤ and it’s not without it’s urgency. “This world has its flaws / We’ll make it matter / And we will rise again,” they chant. The song is another entry on their ongoing pandemic project, expected later this year. We need all the light we can get.
The new playlist also includes songs from Brandon Stansell, Sean McVerry, Me Nd Adam, Maggie Rose, Charley Crockett, Grace Gillespie, wolfi, Hinds, Astrid S, Ghost Town Remedy, and many others.
In all, we’ve got 30 new tracks to soothe your mind during these terrible pandemic times. Insert heart emoji.
Each playlist will be refreshed every Friday morning/afternoon. We reserve the right to update anytime during the week, so make sure you bookmark this page.
