Freshly Squeezed, Vol. 165: Dezelle, telco, Jessye DeSilva & more
Enjoy new songs from Gin Wigmore, Hayes Peebles, Jocelyn Mackenzie, Alex Frew, Valerie June, and more!
Welcome to Freshly Squeezed, a weekly new music playlist: spanning country, pop, EDM and urban, mainstream and other.
A siren roar lurches out of Dezelle. “i decided to believe in visions.” emits almost a hellish post-apocalypitic soundscape, as her two-winged vocal performance plots an acrobatic routine in mid-air. “I feel it rising / It’s perfect timing / I feel the power,” she sings with breathy brushstrokes. Her voice is that of fire, scorching the past with every syllable, and in doing so, she rises as a pheonix reborn.
Michael Gilbride (telco onstage) is a poet. Through a pop/rock haze, his new song “Minus Nine” centers around deep-chested loneliness born out of constantly chasing what’s next ⏤ a depressing state in which we all stumble eventually, and 2020 certainly made it much worse ⏤ while eyeing a hopeful, bright, and promising future. Gilbride’s determination echos across a shiny, guitar-laden arrangement, futher punctuating his vow to weather the storm, come what may.
The new playlist also includes Jessye DeSilva, Willie Jones, Jocelyn Mackenzie, Valerie June, Alex Frew, Tami Neilson, Big Little Lions, Rayvon Owen, Gin Wigmore, and many others!
In all, we’ve got 30 new tracks to soothe your mind during these terrible pandemic times. Insert heart emoji.
Each playlist will be refreshed every Friday or Saturday. We reserve the right to update anytime during the week, so make sure you bookmark this page.
