Freshly Squeezed, Vol. 166: Between Giants, Painted On, Jocelyn Mackenzie & more

Enjoy new songs from Tayls, Rebecca Black, Tucker Riggleman & the Cheap Dates, Vera Bloom, and more!

Welcome to Freshly Squeezed, a weekly new music playlist: spanning country, pop, EDM and urban, mainstream and other.

“It’s like the medicine’s messing with me,” Tyler Berkich’s voice flickers like candelight. There’s a wispy quality to his inflection, gently calling the listener into his orb. With his band Between Giants‘ new song “Nauseous,” a mood-drowning downtempo, Berkich surrounds the senses with foggy electric guitar and a performance that goes heavy on raw emotion, accentuated when it eventually crescendoes with blood-curdling cries into the dark. You won’t be able to avoid the tidal wave coming right for your heart.

Painted On‘s “REWIND” is like taking a leisurely drive among the Hollywood Hills, the crunch of gravel mingling with the stereo’s static blast. “We’re just a moment in time / That we can’t rewind,” Hillary Capps mourns. The past rushes by like city lights, balanced against a moody, sobering soundscape. Collaborator and husband Anthony Farina can often be heard in faint droplets throughout the duo’s new EP; it’s both unnerving and beautiful.

The new playlist also includes Jocelyn Mackenzie, Tucker Riggleman and the Cheap Dates, Daisy O’Connor, Vera Bloom, Tayls, Years & Years, Hailey Whitters, Rebecca Black, Kesha, and many more!

In all, we’ve got 30 new tracks to soothe your mind during these terrible pandemic times. Insert heart emoji.

Each playlist will be refreshed every Friday or Saturday. We reserve the right to update anytime during the week, so make sure you bookmark this page.
