Relationships can be trying, but they can also force you outside of your own self-inflicted boundaries. Whether we’re suffocating by our own insecurities or frightened to reveal our most vulnerable selves, the mask will fall sooner or later. Pop’s new renegade Gavin Haley exposes his heart to reveal stripped scar patterns and perhaps his most haunting vocal of his career. In linking up with the equally-proficient storyteller Ella Vos, the pair teeter along a spooky tightrope and attempt to make amends with truly emotional gut-punches. “I’m so sorry for the way I am,” the hook trembles mid-air, flaky and ghost-like. Their vocals steady the metaphorical rope line underneath quaking feet and trepidation of the known, and as the production blossoms so does the trust between them.

“The Way I Am” is the latest in a string of releases for both acts this year alone.
