The constant news spiral can smack the air right out of your lungs. And you probably will barely recover when it happens again, and then again, and then again. Indie pop singer-songwriter Gecko seeks out a bright woodland as a way to cope with the crashing, suffocating information overload. With “Breathe,” bubbly, playful, and lush soundscapes pinging around his head before spilling over onto the recording like a geyser awakening from slumber. “Life is like a maze, and you’re just bumping into hedges,” he sing-speaks. His words lasso and yank you into his little world, and you linger long enough to find relief for which you too have long been grasping.
