Welcome to Taste Test, a song/video review series of SubmitHub-only gemstones

Mental health is like running a marathon through a swamp. You can push all your muscles at once, but you likely will only ever make incremental progress. Singer-songwriter David Archuleta confronts his ongoing struggling with his song “OK, All Right,” a deceptively vivacious, luminescent track that simply soothes. While he makes note of particular things, like turning on the TV at night so as not to feel alone, he learns to dance it out, escaping into waves of synths to medicate his anxiety-addled mind. “When I lose my way, I just look at myself in the mirror and say, ‘It’s fine. I’m fine. OK, all right,'” he encourages himself to focus on the good. It might not be a long-term solution (he also advocates for therapy), but for now, it’s enough to retrain the brain.

“OK, All Right” anchors Archuleta’s brand new album, Therapy Sessions, out everywhere now.
