Taste Test: Jack Broza honours a country folk legend with ‘Walk a Day’
The New York City guitarist and composer invites us into his world
Welcome to Taste Test, a song/video review series of SubmitHub-only gemstones
Everyone has different ways to cope with the challenges of living in a pandemic-stricken world. Jack Broza likes to go for a hike. The morning after country folk legend John Pine died, he composed a chorus for a new song. “A walk the day your brother cried/a walk the day that John Pine died/a walk a day for exercise/and reminiscing” he sings, his voice as calm as a still pool of water. Broza’s voice is supported by similarly serene and beautiful female vocals. The layers of guitar instrumentals offers up a soothing and thoughtful texture. “Walk a Day” makes you feel like you’re on the journey with Broza, seeing the sights and feelings his emotions. It is an invitation into his world, and an outstretched hand in a time of isolation.
