Taste Test: JEMS fall ‘Completely’ for Jonathan Taylor Thomas
The alt-folk trio celebrate their long-standing adoration for JTT in their new video.
Welcome to Taste Test, a song/video review series of SubmitHub-only gemstones.
Who didn’t have a crush on Jonathan Taylor Thomas?! He was the very definition of teen heartthrob in the ’90s, and he still holds up. Reminding us of the good ole fashioned days of Twist magazine, ring pops and VHS camcorders, alt-folk trio JEMS ⏤ of Emily Colombier, Jessica Rotter, and Sarah Margaret Huff ⏤ fall head over heels for the bleach-blonde sitcom staple in their new video. “Completely,” which could also read as an episode of Blossom, is a smokey-eyed mid-tempo of sugary teenage fantasy. “Well, I love too hard, and I fall too fast / I never seem to know how to make it last,” the group shares their deepest, darkest secrets on the hook. So, of course the visual embodies all the cliches of a slumber party: face cream, makeovers, craft-time, oh my! To be sure, we’ll all be back to wanting JTT…completely.
“Completely” is lifted from the band’s self-titled debut album, out everywhere now.
