With the present flickering as a candle in the wind, it’s quite easy to get lost in worry for what tomorrow will bring. And who could blame you? The present is ever-elusive and seems to slip right through our fingers. Accomplished player Joshua Radin beautifully plants himself in the eye of the present days, casting a warm, silver glow around his life, on a song called “Here, Right Now.” Its poetic frankness is elevated through his fragile guitar playing and the harmony work of Maria Taylor, whose voice bends around his into a dazzling light exhibit. The duo sheds the pressures of the world for what is sweet and intoxicating right before their eyes; the everyday pulses through their veins, and in such a practical way, they rediscover the vivacity and color of the world that flourishes outside their doorsteps. “Everything I’ve done has brought me to you,” chirps Radin, whose own radiance penetrates to the bone. It’s an eloquent performance that not only allows Radin to highlight his innate gifts to paint potent stories but to alleviate the world of even an ounce of hurt.
“Here, Right Now” serves as the title cut to Radin’s new album, expected October 4.
