Taste Test: Callie Reiff remixes Lenii’s ‘The Kids are All Rebels’

Sometimes, a remix really can refuel a song to feel even more volatile. Such is the case for Lenii‘s “The Kids are All Rebels,” an obvious flip-the-script moment of “The Kids are Alright.” In the very capable hands of rising producer/DJ Callie Reiff, the song’s already politically-charged core erupts with volcanic goo and a fiery, gaseous emission. “Keep talking back, oh you think you’re so hard / Blood on your hands, oh you took it too far,” sings Lenii. A shape-shifting musical fog wafts and bellows around her feet, feeling both revitalizing and suffocating. “House madе of glass and you laugh at the pebbles / The kids are all rebels, saw you dance with the devil.” Lenii’s lyrics already cut deep, but within such a new shell, it hits even harder.
