Welcome to Taste Test, a song/video review series of SubmitHub-only gemstones

The fire of the world shows no signs of stopping. Whether literal or metaphorical, it consumes and spits out everything in its path – and we all must attempt to survive. Groovy alt-pop mastermind lostboycrow prompts the listener to put “all your weight on fragile things with a smile,” he says in press materials. His new song “Moonlight” possesses a late-’60s power-pop glisten, the electric guitars moaning in delicate bubbles, while his voice cuts like a knife. “I can see it now,” he sings, romanticizing the present into a sun-bleached photograph. “I believe in late-night TV, yeah / I believe in love going down easy / Driving out to Malibu, see our futures in the moon,” he crests the beat with relish. Despite the earth shattering around him, he turns his gaze to what is left to grasp and cherish. It’s a blissful, enveloping immersion we all could use a bit more of these days.
