He has a well-worn voice that warms you through like the North Carolina sun, and every word he sings carries weight. The lyrics themselves are all too poignant for today’s modern life. “Ridin’ the money train/Everybody’s ridin’ the ol’ money train” the chorus repeats, as Holcombe outlines the mentality of those too caught up in the pursuit of money to care about the world. The instrumentation is layered immaculately, featuring guitars, bass, and drums rocking back and forth to the rhythm of the song. This song has a rough weathered charm that will make even the busiest, most cynical person stop and smile.
