Life presents a smorgasbord of lessons, some easier to swallow and soak into one’s own. Others carry a much harder fall before you can climb back out. A chameleon of sorts, who knows her fair share of turmoil, Denmark’s alternative pop newcomer MOZAÍK surveys her surroundings for a new fizzy-seltzer fist-pumper called “My Time.” Gathering up her strength and pulling herself out of the dust, she mounts an expedition winding up the cracked mountain surface and screams her lungs out once she graces the tippy top. “It’s going to be OK / I know it,” she warbles on the hook, which acts as a balancing beam between the sturdy anthem kind and a more intimate prayer. She draws upon her struggles to then churn out a manifesto for herself, urging the listener, too, to cast the pain into the rearview mirror and reclaim a dignified place in the world. And she certainly is making her mark.
“My Time” follows another cheery rallying cry, “Keep On,” from earlier this year.
