Pop, Lock & Bops: Best of July 2018
Enjoys songs from Heart Tide, Kacey Musgraves (remixes), Jocelyn Alice, FRND, Max Embers, Rue Snider, Tom Odell and more!
Welcome to Pop, Lock & Bops, a monthly playlist series documenting our favorite windswept country tunes, heartfelt tearjerkers and down-right intoxicating dirty-pop club bangers.
Man, oh, man. ARIZONA are killing it this year. With a double-boozy pair of singles, “Summer Days” and “Freaking Out,” the electro-pop band gallop long and hard into the sunset. Frontman Zach Hannah has never sounded so ripe, his voice plump and penetrating the fog of house and new wave. Their intermingling of such spacious genres is oh-so sweet, tingling on the tongue and last well after the summer has vanished.
A wham-bam remix overload of Kacey Musgraves‘ already-glitter-ific “High Horse” will get you, well, high for as long as you so desire. Meanwhile, Max George, formerly of UK band The Wanted, makes an admirable debut with “Barcelona,” a romantic excursion that’ll get you to swoon right in his arms, and blog favorite Felicity (who possesses one of those rarely voices that only come along once every generation) is “Happily Paralyzed” with a new single.
You think that’s it, but that’s only the beginning. Our new monthly roundup also includes such memorable songs from Ruston Kelly, Marquee Mayfield, Cam, Sophia Scott, Max Embers, Rue Snider, Brandon Stansell, Jocelyn Alice, FRND, Dusky Grey, Liv Austen, Rose Villain, Heart Tide, Kodaline, Kate Vargas, Lucie Silvas, Kate Teague, Tom Odell, Thomas Abban and countless others.
When all is said and done, we’ve got 66 songs to discover over and over again.
