Taste Test: Sam Creighton celebrates at ‘Someone Else’s Party’
The indie-pop newcomer learns to embrace her worth in a new video.
Welcome to Taste Test, a song/video review series of SubmitHub-only gemstones
We teeter on a balancing beam. The spotlight follows our every move, and we either swallow it down or cast it off onto someone else. Indie-pop newcomer Sam Creighton assumes the latter role and almost downplays her own creative achievements. With “Someone Else’s Party,” paired with a magnificent visual both vibrant and intimate, Creighton learns to embrace not only other’s endeavors and successes but her very own, as well. “Please don’t give me compliments / Haven’t done anything yet,” she sings, heaving the limelight upon her friends. But her fear soon dissipates with the cheery display of camaraderie that super-charges her bones. Bubbly and infectious, Creighton’s new video warms every one of the senses.
