Some of us have such a deep aching in our chests it nearly rips us apart. And that pang entices us to bound away across county and state lines, hitting up the open road for some solace and piece of mind. Whatever that might be, we follow a muse. Eventually, we may even wander back into those barriers that once felt suffocating. Folk duo The Montvales express their own journey, tangled lines and various trajectories they’ve trekked through the years, in and out of Knoxville. “It’s a big ole world / Oh, but we’ll work with what we got,” the pair sing, voices intertwined. It’s both imprinted with longing and pleasure in knowing they’ve done all they could to live a life worth living.
“Oh Louise” samples the duo’s new album, Heartbreak Summer Camp, out everywhere September 25.
