Disagreements can often feel as swollen tendons. Your muscles will ache, and such affliction might appear as the end of the world. But time alleviates all. A sublimely genre-blurring collective called The Pairs find themselves floundering in the space between ⏤ the emotional jab still smarts and time has yet to settle. “Did I” draws you in as a warm fuzzy fleece to your neck as you bask in a roaring fire’s warm glow, and the weight of what you think you’ve done clocks you between the eyes. A wellspring of tears slide and cake your cheeks. The self-loathing is too much, but you’re trapped. “Did I misinterpret all those things you said…again,” the band ponders. The groove quivers beneath an Alannah Myles quake, a little psych-folk and a whole lotta indie-rock.
“Did I” follows the release of the band’s 2018 self-titled debut EP.
