Taste Test: The Resonant Rogues muse on touring life with ‘93,500 Miles’
The folky duo reflect upon a life on the road.

The Resonant Rogues — fronted by Sparrow and Keith Josiah Smith — were broken down on the side of the road when creativity struck. “93,500 Miles” was born out of road weariness, yet the song deceives the listener. There’s an air of hope lining the edges, as though they’re upholding some sort of cosmic destiny to make music and travel. “Can you tell me where the hell I am going?” the band ponders over jaunty instrumentation. “Do you ever wonder what you’re doing here?” rings from their lungs. These questions may never have answers, exactly, but the duo is driven by the love of art. Even if it doesn’t make much sense on the outside looking in, they’re more than suited for a life on the road (and know in their heart of hearts they’re supposed to be here). Americana music is the better for it.
