Chris Housman is a bulldozer of a storyteller. From “Blueneck” to “Drag Queen,” he’s erected an impressive catalog of stories, frequently from the queer perspective. Apart from his work with The Cowgays this year, he’s gearing up several single/video releases like a full-throttle engine. With his new music video, “Dirt on Me,” he sheds light on the lyricsโof “building bridges over walls that they put up,” he sings, explicitly addressing Christian Nationalism. Instead of anger, he extends a compassionate hand. He might not get one in return, but at least he tried. The visual shows Housman reconnecting with the dirt of the ground and taking up a pew, walking that balance between feeling grounded and trying to make peace as a human being.
