Freshly Squeezed, Vol. 155: Blake English, Zach Benson, Primme & more

Enjoy new songs from Me Nd Adam, Kate Davis, Cameron Hawthorn, PRIMME, Kisos, David Quinn, and more!

Welcome to Freshly Squeezed, a weekly new music playlist: spanning country, pop, EDM and urban, mainstream and other.

Let’s not mince words here: Blake English is an icon at this point. And he only has an EP and a collection of should-be smashes. His new song “Cool” is a slithering retro bop, laced up with lyrics of being fully at the mercy of an industry that would dare to change everything about him. “Keep your enemies closest / While you’re trying to focus,” he muses over finger snaps. It’s certainly far removed from Spiders Make Great Poets, an unsettling five track EP with punkish snarls and devilish attitude. Yet beneath the surface shivers the same artist, one with deep insecurities and simply screaming to be heard. The world has slept on him for far too long.

You better fully expect Zach Benson to rip your heart out. With his song “when u leave,” off his new EP, hopeless, romantic., he sinks into a sea of tears, a frothy, frigid sea mixture, and drags you into his pain whether you want to or not. “You were the only constant in my mind,” he yearns. An ex-lover wanders through his life, only as ghostly residue, and Benson may never be able to sleep, escape, or do much else but wallow. Time often doesn’t do what it’s supposed to.

The new playlist also includes Kate Davis, ASTRINA, Cameron Hawthorn, Megan O’Neill, Me Nd Adam, Fickle Friends, Kisos, Primme, David Quinn, and so many others.

In all, we’ve got 30 new tracks to soothe your mind during these terrible pandemic times. Insert heart emoji.

Each playlist will be refreshed every Friday or Saturday. We reserve the right to update anytime during the week, so make sure you bookmark this page.
