Freshly Squeezed, Vol. 156: M.A.G.S., Holiday Sidewinder, David Quinn & more

Enjoy new songs from SUMif, Rue Snider, Paul Usher, David Quinn, Amy Shark, and more!

Welcome to Freshly Squeezed, a weekly new music playlist: spanning country, pop, EDM and urban, mainstream and other.

M.A.G.S. is magnetic. He lures you in through his penetrating gaze and knack for electric genre-melting. And you stay for the voice so silky it’s like you’re napping on the clouds. With his new song “Smile,” he barrels through a timelessly-structured performance, borrowing from classic soul and pop music and upending every preconceived notion. Electric guitars froth at his feet, and he climbs to the mountaintop, letting all the bullshit of life fade off his shoulders, “And I just know where I belong, so put your hand in my hand,” he sings.

Holiday Sidewinder doesn’t get nearly enough credit (go listen to her 2019 studio debut, if you don’t believe us). And the follow-up single, “Twin Flames,” is a true mood-enchancer if we’ve ever heard one. It burns long and hot, setting a sultry, brooding ambiance, and her voice is what does it: knocks you off your feet and leaves you gulping for air. She’s betwitching like that.

Paul Usher dishes up the bop we’ve been desparately seeking. “Time Don’t Heal” climbs right into the body, and you find yourself sliding along its bubble gum groove without ever realizing it. Usher slides his vocal along an entrancing scale, from full-chest into his falsetto, and you won’t know what hit you.

The new playlist also includes David Quinn, Lera Lynn, Amy Shark, SUMif, Rue Snider, Whatever We Are, Andrew Weiss & Friends, and many others.

In all, we’ve got 30 new tracks to soothe your mind during these terrible pandemic times. Insert heart emoji.

Each playlist will be refreshed every Friday or Saturday. We reserve the right to update anytime during the week, so make sure you bookmark this page.
