The folk-pop duo explore unruly sadness and the inability to break free with their new video.

We all make compromises in this life. We trade up our emotional wellbeing for keeping the peace or even accepting the swirl of ruin and dusty that cakes our skin. Still, though, there is an angst that feeds off that stagnant state until it wrenches from our body. Whatever choices we do or do not make, we have to live with it. Folk-pop duo Hannah & Falco ascertain that their place is one not to ruffle too many features, so their new visual for “No Way to Talk” sees them both orbiting around each other in a constant ho-hum state of sadness. “I may lose it,” Falco feels the fevered rush to his cheeks, the emotion nearly toppling him over in the grocery store. Yet he buries it all beneath layers of boyish composure and continues scratching another day into the mundane echo chamber of existence.

“No Way to Talk” is a taste of the duo’s debut LP, Field Notes, out everywhere September 27.
