Marriage is a joyous occasion, but for JoLivi’s new single, it’s the backdrop for tragedy. “I had a chance/but I took a chance on some other town” she sings, soft regret echoing through her voice. The Hawaiian artist combines her talents with Brian Maher (Taylor Swift, Justin Moore, Brett Kissel) and Skip Black (Jana Kramer, Tyler Farr) to weave a melodic tragedy of old lovers growing apart. “When the preacher man says for worse or for best/Hoping you’ll just say no, and she won’t say yes” she prays, emotion clear in every syllable. The slow and thoughtful pace of the music is melancholy without being depressing. It crashes over the vocals like the ebb and flow of waves. JoLiv stuns with this beautiful and intimate portrayal of desperate love.
