Welcome to Taste Test, a song/video review series of SubmitHub-only gemstones.

Kisos is a master of baring his soul. He’s a firestarter when it comes to exposing the darkness. He ripped out our hearts last summer, and now he’s back to finish us off. With “I Still Remember,” a pop track shot through a cannon of alternative clunks and bangs, he puts the rawness of a relationship’s decay in bright sunlight. “Things don’t always work out,” he blubbers over guitar. “As time goes on, we see different sides / But that don’t mean I love you less / Even though you hurt me.” His voice possesses this visceral, skin-crawling quality that really forces you to reflect and bathe in his pain. Sometimes, you’ve just gotta wallow, and it’ll be OK. “I don’t really know why it didn’t work,” he later observes. Piano twinkles in the background, right before a slushy mixes sweeps in like a summer thunderstorm. The downpour will only last a few minutes, but it’ll leave a mark anyway.

“I Still Remember” samples his brand new EP, Sweet Nothings, out everywhere now.
