Welcome to My Horror Anatomy, a terrifying series in which artists and creators dissect their five most influential horror films.

Sev7en Taylor‘s new single “The Subconscious Side of the Lilith Moon.” instantly oozes a deliciously gooey pleasure. In using Britney Spears’ “Oops! I Did It Again” as a lyrical jumping-off point, the rising rapper sculpts that identifiable pop refrain into something even more sexual and electric. “Bitches so mad I’m it,” he spits. Taylor’s words spiral and loop back around, as almost a slinky and distorted hypnotist’s wheel. “[This song] goes into the underground world of creative illusions,” offers Taylor to B-Sides & Badlands. “It welcomes listeners to the dark side of the moon party.”

There’s a darkness to the arrangement, too, something wicked yet addicting. “Oh baby, got lost in the dick,” he curls his tongue. “The Subconscious Side of the Lilith Moon.” acts as a conjuring spell to lure the listener onto a cosmic dance floor, devoid of time and space and existing somewhere in the beyond. There’s only writhing bodies and a unruly appetite.

Below, Sev7en Taylor walks us through five picks for his favorite horror films, which have either consciously or subconsciously influenced his work. Take a gander.

A Nightmare On Elm Street

Freddy, just like Jason, will always be a top horror movie. He legit made you afraid to go to sleep. I thoroughly enjoyed this series, as well, and what it also contributed to the horror genre.

The Shining

A horror classic that gave us all a mental shift; also opens conversations about going into different dimensions inside your mind.

Scream

This movie birthed everyone secretly wanting a babysitter or being home alone, while being stalked by Ghostface. Another classic that you can’t think of horror without including.

Jeeper’s Creepers

I would always hold the first two movies close to my heart and anxiety. He’s truly something you can fear and almost feel that something in the world like him does exist.

Halloween (Series)

I love this movie franchise because of how you automatically think about the impact this movie has made; we all at one point were afraid of Michael Myers. He’s an instant favorite film main character that you have a love and hate relationship with.
